This is a textbook on the History of the Church in general, focusing on Europe and to a lesser extent North America. It is composed for students of Theology who are preparing for a Licentiate, a Diploma or a Bachelor’s certificate, and has taken shape in a Central African setting at Zomba Theological College in Malawi, where the author has been lecturing since 1998. The 41 chapters are arranged in four parts, Antiquity, Middle Ages, the Reformation Era, and the rest of the Modern Age. This division was chosen because it reflects the syllabi of a number of theological colleges in Malawi and elsewhere. Each part has its own bibliography. This book is meant to be a practical introduction and tool for beginning learners of Church History. Bibliographies and footnotes contain literature for further study.
